Are you our next Farmer Market All Star?
Rice Culture is hiring part time team members to to work out of our Farmer’s Market locations throughout Maryland, DC, VA for the 2025 WINTER SEASON and MAIN SEASON. Winter Season is about 10 weeks spanning from Jan 8 thru March 31. After that is MAIN SEASON which spans from April-Dec. Please indicate which season you are interested in.
We are looking for self-starters who are easily able to work as a part of a team or alone. The ideal candidate is someone with amazing energy, experience working in a high volume shop within the food industry, and a love for waffles!
In this role, you will greet customers, talk about our menu with customers, drive farmer market sales, and deliver amazing customer service.
PAY:
Pay is $170 per market. This includes your pay, gas, and phone hotspot. Markets are usually from 8am-1pm or 9am-1pm. You should arrive at least 1 hour prior to market start to unload, park your car, and set up.
You will need to provide your own vehicle and pickup your farmer’s market orders from either the Vienna, VA or Chantilly, VA location. Our farmer’s market set up is very minimal consisting of:
Foldable 10x10 tent
1 6 ft foldable table
Small cooler for ~20-30 jar desserts
50-60 Pre-made Taiyaki Boxes that fit in 2 stackable bread pallets
You will grab your market supplies from our storage room near by and the products from either Vienna, VA or Chantilly, VA (opening Feb 2025). This set up can fit in a sedan where the back seat folds down and expands to the trunk.
After the market, you will drop off any leftover product at the store and return the market supplies in our storage room near by. You are usually done by 3pm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pickup product from our store to sell at markets
Pickup Market Supplies from our Storage room and return at end of market
Set up and breakdown tent at the start and end of market.
Help drive sales through attentive and enthusiastic customer service.
Process credit card and cash sales.
Report sales via Sales Reporting Google forms.
Maintain comprehensive understanding of the menu, including the ingredients, preparation methods, presentation standards, and any seasonal/special items.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a vehicle that can fit and transport our minimal market setup. Set up can fit in a sedan with back seats that fold down but a mini suv or hatchback is recommended.
Must have a hot spot capability on your phone to connect to Square POS.
Weekend availability / must be able to consistently work Saturday and Sunday morning. Markets are usually from 8am-1pm or 9am-1pm.
We prefer you to be available both Saturday and Sunday but are ok if you are only available for 1 day, as long as it is consistent. E.g. you are consistently available on Sundays. We like to keep you at the same market for consistency. Every market is a little different.

Previous retail or sales experience a plus
Experience working with square POS a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing tasks that require strength and stamina, including:
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
Ability to reach up to 6 feet
