Everything we serve is made in-house from scratch, including our creamy custard fillings, sweet red bean paste, waffle batter, and ice cream bases. Our kitchen crew plays a vital role in delivering the high-quality treats we’re known for while ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. What You’ll Do: As a Kitchen Crew Member, you will:

  • Learn to prepare key ingredients like creamy custard fillings, sweet red bean paste, waffle batter, and ice cream bases—all made fresh in-house.

  • Execute weekly prep tasks according to our recipes and standards.

  • Take pride in ensuring every product meets Rice Culture’s high standards for quality and presentation.

  • Assist with inventory management, including receiving, labeling, organizing, and rotating stock.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized workspace.

  • Handle kitchen equipment with care and report any issues promptly.

  • Occasionally assist in serving guests and cross-train in other roles as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the menu and master the preparation methods, including seasonal and special items.

  • Prepare products such as Taiyaki batter, ice cream bases, red bean paste, and custard cream fillings—all crafted in-house.

  • Conduct quality control to ensure only the best products reach our guests.

  • Organize and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.

  • Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe and clean kitchen.

  • Communicate low inventory or equipment issues to the Production Manager.

What We’re Looking For: You’d be perfect for this role if you have:

  • A coachable attitude and a growth mindset.

  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive under pressure.

  • Strong attention to detail for recipes, portion control, and cleanliness.

  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.

  • Exceptional teamwork skills and a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of kitchen experience (preferred).

  • Availability for weekday morning and afternoon shifts.

  • Part-time: 15-35 hours/week. Full-time: 35+ hours/week.

  • Reliable transportation to Vienna or Chantilly, VA locations.

  • Food handler’s certificate (preferred).

  • Bakery or pastry experience (a plus).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Capability to reach up to 6 feet.

  • Comfortable handling heavy kitchen machinery like 30 qt mixers and large pots.

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods in a fast-paced environment.
